He received in 2004 a Master and Ph.D. degree with honors from Ecole Polytechnique, the engineering school of the University of Montreal. He began to work in composite materials in 1995 and since then focused on material characterization and processing of advanced aerospace composites. In 2013 he was awarded with a National Research Chair by the Canadian National Research Council. Dr. Ruiz was one of the youngest scientist to receive such honor thanks to his portfolio of scientific innovations and technology industrialization. Since 2005 he is professor at Ecole Polytechnique and founder of Ruiz Aerospace Manufacturing, a spin-off company developing advanced composites for the aerospace market. He is a passionate teacher and applies innovation and creativity to every challenge. Her specialties are polymer chemistry and physics, material processing and product development. She received her B.S. degree in Polymer Science and Engineering from Tehran Polytechnic and her Master in Chemical Engineering from University of Tehran. She completed her Chemical Engineering education by obtaining a Ph.D. from Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, for which she investigated the role of molecular chain architecture in melt rheology, crystallization and processability of polymers. Afterwards, she worked as a postdoctoral scholar at BioInterface lab (Material Engineering Department) at McGill university. During this period she collaborated with Department of Dentistry and 3DRPD company to modify metal \/ polymer interface by electro-chemical processes. In addition to her academic background, Dr. Nouri developed her industrial experience and team management skills by working at petrochemical and plastic industries as Research Scientist as well as QC and\u00a0 R&amp;D Manager.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">A<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-425 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/a2c2.meca.polymtl.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/cath-2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"161\" height=\"191\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Catherine Billotte-Cabre, M.Sc.A., P.Eng.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Microcharacterization Lab Manager<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">A<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt; color: #ffffff;\">A<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Catherine Billotte is specialized in micro characterization of polymers and composite materials for more than 15 years. She has both industrial and academic research experience. She began her career as a chemical engineer, then as a R &amp; D specialist in polymer physics and chemistry, in particular in rheology and thermal analysis. She starts her research career by developing solder paste for electronic circuit boards for surface mount technology, which lead to the completion of a M.Sc.A. on the rheology of solder paste suspension. She has developed a strong expertise in complex polymer fluids, rheology, suspensions, nanocomposites, resin chemorheology and composites characterization. She has set up a complete micro-characterization laboratory for polymers and composites (so-called LM2C) and developed methods of characterization and advanced techniques to understand the complex physicochemical phenomena occurring during the manufacture of composites by liquid injection. Mrs. Billotte is involved in many projects, including the manufacturing of flame retardant nanoclays-polyester composites, modelling of cure kinetic of thermosets resin, development of innovative low cost manufacturing process for oxide\/oxide and SiC\/SiC ceramic matrix composites (CMCs). She also developed skills in project management and participated in the realization of numerous industrial application projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-488 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/a2c2.meca.polymtl.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_4376-mod.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"183\" \/><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Edith-Roland Fotsing, Ph.D., M.Eng., Jr.Eng.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Research Associate<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With a Ph.D. in material science from the Clausthal University of Technology in Germany and a Master of Engineering (aerospace) from Polytechnique Montreal, Dr. Fotsing holds more than 7 years of experience as research associate and project coordinator in the field of composite materials. He has developed a strong expertise in composite manufacturing (infusion, RTM and autoclave).\u00a0 He is also involved in development of innovative and low cost manufacturing process for oxide-oxide and SiC\/SiC ceramic-matrix composites (CMCs). As a member of the Laboratory for Acoustics and Vibration Analysis (LAVA), he is very active in the field of mechanical and acoustic vibration in composite materials. He is specialized in the analytical modeling of the acoustic and vibration of multilayer structures as well as the experimental characterization of structural damping of composites sandwich structures. Additionally, Dr. Fotsing develops and characterizes new acoustic materials as well as new integration procedures to create composite structures with new functionalities. Another side of his expertise includes the characterization of aged reinforced elastomeric membrane and the surface finish composites used for business aircraft interior. Working on various major projects, he has also developed skills in project management and strengthened his ties in the composite industry. She studied the manufacturing and characterization of polymer nanocomposites during her Master in Applied Science at \u00c9cole Polytechnique de Montr\u00e9al. In 2009 she started to work for Bombardier Aerospace, as a material and process engineer for business aircraft interior certification. Then she joined the core stress team to work on certification testing of composite and hybrid structures for new business and commercial aircraft programs. He graduated from Saint-J\u00e9r\u00f4me College in Composite Materials Transformation in May 2002. Before finishing his studies, he started working at Composites Group of Mechanical Engineering Department at \u00c9cole Polytechnique. Polymer and Composites was her major in France and she got a master of engineering from Polytechnique Montreal in 2014, focused on composites materials. She is now working on the development of a 3D interlock composites multi-scale viscoelastic model.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-487 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/a2c2.meca.polymtl.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/70-mod.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"182\" height=\"174\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>C\u00e9dric Pupin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ph.D. Candidate<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">C\u00e9dric was gratued in 2008 in mechanical engineering from the prestigious \u00c9cole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure d\u2019Arts et M\u00e9tiers in France. After a successful 4-year experience as a research engineer at Laboratoire Arts et M\u00e9tiers Paristech d\u2019Angers, including 3 years in collaboration with AIRBUS on developing a new forming process for dry woven reinforcement (D\u00e9fi Composite European project), he settled in Canada in 2012 and worked for the company ERFT Composites, specialized in the manufacturing of structural components with advanced composite materials. In 2013, he joined the Research Chair on New 3D Composite Materials for the Aerospace Industry in collaboration with SAFRAN group as a PhD student. She joined the LTC laboratory at \u00c9cole Polytechnique F\u00e9d\u00e9rale de Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2012 where she worked as a researcher engineer for two years. During that period she was focused in the characterization and processing of advance composite materials and she participate in the Cleansky and Hivocomp European projects and Global Neonat project. She started her PhD entitled \u201cResidual stresses prediction in 3d interlock composites manufactured by resin transfer molding\u201d in 2014 under the supervision of Edu Ruiz and Martin Levesque and in collaboration with Safran Group.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-499 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/a2c2.meca.polymtl.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/68-mod.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"157\" height=\"146\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alessandro-Dario Scola<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ph.D. Candidate<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alessandro received his bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from Polytechnique Montreal in 2015. As an undergraduate student, Alessandro discovered composite materials while working on Esteban, Polytechnique Montreal\u2019s solar car. As team lead on that project, he designed and fabricated three solar car that competed in four independent international races. The team achieved a fourth place in 2014 and a second place in 2015 while getting honors for their teamwork and novel design ideas. Alessandro joined Prof. Ruiz team in 2012 as an intern and participated in multiple projects touching the aerospace industry throughout his studies. At the end of his degree, he joined Prof. Ruiz again to start a Ph.D. entitled \u201cStudy of a Novel Injection Process of Oxyde\/Oxyde Composites through Flexible Injection\u201d. He also participates, as a teaching assistant, in multiple technical drawing courses. He has also worked as a project manager and project planner on the installation of a biomass conditioning system during his first internship at Lakson International Development Inc. Her interest in composite materials started when she joined Polytechnique\u2019s rocket team, Oronos. As the engine design lead, she helped to develop a hybrid engine and oversaw the integration within the carbon fiber fuselage. He worked in a Refinery Industry in Technical Inspection Department verifying the mechanical integrity of the installations and studying the mechanism of corrosion for their prevention. Since 2015 he is a master student in Chemical engineer sciences at Instituto Tecnologico de Ciudad Madero, Mexico. He works on\u00a0the synthesis of nanoparticles and their functionalization.
